Happy (belated) Tanzanian Independence Day. Last Wednesday December 9, marked the 48th anniversary of Tanzania's (relatively peaceful) independence from the British.
The day after the celebration (in which President Jakaya Kikwete pardoned several thousand prisoners during a stadium-filled tribute with music, dancing and commemorations), Tanzania celebrated (a little less enthusiastically) International Anti-Corruption Day, which they have renamed National Integrity Day.
Here's a toast to the two Is.
